Description

The Advancement division at Dartmouth is searching for an Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Development.  Joining a large and complex fundraising organization, you will serve as a key partner for our Vice President while managing critical office functions and projects with your good judgement, professionalism, and collaborative spirit.  Some of the work that can be found in this role includes complex calendar management, travel and itinerary planning, meeting and presentation preparations, and detailed reporting based on fundraising and our goal metrics.  Strong communication skills are very important to us as we work collaboratively with other members of divisional/institutional leadership and colleagues, alumni, parents, and friends of Dartmouth.  A point of contact for those seeking time with our Vice President, your tact, diplomacy, and ability to determine urgency and understand priorities of the day for your executive will help our fundraising staff move cultivation and stewardship initiatives forward in this important time in our capital campaign, The Call to Lead.  In this role, you will also provide support to an active Senior Philanthropic Advisor as they support our fundraising mission.

As our new colleague, you will bring us five or more years of office experience with a high degree of autonomy in an academic or corporate environment as well as a Bachelor’s degree (or the equivalent of education and experience).  Experience working successfully with internal leadership and high-end clients or donors will provide an opportunity for your gracious communication style to shine in our fast-paced organization and with our diverse constituency.  Project management and organizational skills are important in our workflows, as is your flexibility to respond to changes in priorities.  By nature of our work, we are in contact with sensitive and confidential information and your discretion and management of this information is critical in maintaining the confidence our donors have in us.  Your officers both travel in their fundraising work (domestic and international) and your ability to effectively coordinate travel details and prepare your executives for travel with the collateral they will need will be important as they represent Dartmouth with our generous donors that give in ways that transform the student experience.  Our technology suite currently includes Microsoft Office, Advance, and Slack.  We will provide training for you in Advance and Slack if you join us without prior experience in these softwares.  We ask that you bring us a strong understanding of the components of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word) as your ability to manage calendars and schedule meetings, work with data sets for reporting measures, and prepare presentations will be critical for our workflows.  Last but certainly not least, we hope you will join us with your sense of humor.

This is a wonderful opportunity to join Advancement in a role that serves as an important fundraising partner at a critical time in Dartmouth’s fundraising history.  Advancement has a strong commitment to diversity and in supporting the needs of a diverse community as we further our work in fundraising, engagement, and stewardship.  To explore this career opportunity, we are pleased to provide an online application process for you at https://dartgo.org/ExecutiveAsstVPDev.  Applications will be reviewed regularly through an initial anonymizing screening process to help reduce bias in selection processes.  Curious about Advancement?  Please visit us at http://advancement.dartmouth.org/careers to learn more about us and our exciting work!  Referrals always welcome.
