Summary: Responsible for building the annual giving program for The Science Museum of Virginia Foundation including multi-channel soliciting, thanking and cultivating new donors for gifts from $1 to $50,000. Works closely with other gifts officers to leverage existing donor relationships, to leverage past donor relationships, and to build upon Board, Trustee, and museum staff interactions and knowledge to grow annual support.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Building a pipeline for individual annual donors.
Soliciting, closing, and thanking individual annual donors, in coordination with Director of Stewardship, and other gift officers.
Implement a best practice direct mail and/or multi-channel annual giving program for individuals. Identify execution plan and oversee growth plan for 5-year success.
Remain informed of latest innovations and best practices for building annual fund support and museum support.
Leverage opportunities connected to membership, Giving Societies, and museum activities to build annual support.
Connect with museum staff, event staff, corporate giving, Foundation board members and Trustees to access networks for pipeline building.
Develop online and other materials regarding the importance of annual support, demonstration of annual support impact, and ways for donors to give.
Develop and monitor the Annual Fund budget expenses and revenue.
Provide content and metrics to report outcomes for Museum reporting, Foundation Board reports, annual audits and the Annual Report.
Coordinate annual fund solicitation of members with membership and stewardship.
Work with the Director of Stewardship to design a stewardship plan for annual donors and execute the plan with portfolio managers and the Director of Stewardship.

Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred, or demonstrated work experience.
At least 3 years of experience building pipeline and/or soliciting for annual individual gifts in an active development office.
Strong working ability in all computer skills related to word processing, accounting, and data analysis with essential knowledge of Microsoft Office and Raiser’s Edge.
Excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills.
Analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills with ability to multi-task while being also highly detail-oriented and accurate.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to effectively organize and coordinate multiple projects; and to work well with the public.
