Description
About Extra Mile Institute
At the Extra Mile Institute (EMI), we help teams achieve high-performance and well-being by enhancing communication and aligning their culture with stated values. We engage through 15-30 minute story-driven conversations called StepBacks. Our process includes pilot launches, facilitator training, behavioral assessment debriefs, and a digital content platform that equips internal leaders to sustain StepBacks within their own team and scale them across their entire organization. We support value-aligned organizations across both business and athletics to create lasting cultures of high performance and well-being. We are a small, high-trust startup team that values initiative, adaptability, and doing meaningful work at a high-standard.

- Has high emotional intelligence and strong self-awareness (Effective Communication - self-awareness enables honest, open dialogue.)
- Demonstrates resilience, grit, and follow-through (Be Scrappy - we persist and find solutions)
- Is proactive, autonomous, and comfortable with ambiguity (Trust - we act responsibly without constant oversight.)
- Thinks creatively and solves problems without waiting to be told (Learner Mindset - we stay curious and adaptable.)
- Has the endurance to balance facilitation, relationships, and behind-the-scenes work (Practice What We Preach - we prioritize a healthy culture of well-being and excellence.)
- Is adaptable as priorities shift in a growing startup (Learner Mindset - we stay curious and adaptable. )
